Shea Whigham to Star as Roger Dooley in Marvel's Agent Carter

According to Deadline, Marvel has found its male lead to play opposite Hayley Atwell in the upcoming ABC spy series, Agent Carter. Whigham will play the tough but fair-minded SSR, Chief Roger Dooley, the man who will oversee agents Carter, Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). Before S.H.I.E.L.D. showed up in the Marvel Comic Universe, there was the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve. Carter will take direct orders from Dooley (Whigham), who will be giving her the secret assignments.

Agent Carter will set in 1946, when Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who working for the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR), must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark.

Whigham currently stars as Eli Thompson on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire," which is currently in its final season. He also appeared in the first season of "True Detective."
